My beloved Sisco….. it’s taken me weeks to pause between life’s blade running and compose a worthy eulogy for such an incredible partnership.

Jireh: a Hebrew word describing the God who provides. I could write a book……

For those of you who knew him personally or during our heyday, you knew the resolve he had. Thank you Jeannette Wright and Lance Wright for providing such a kind and peaceful haven for him the last 6 years at Firehawk Ranch. There’s no doubt that your loving and intuitive care enriched his senior years. He thoroughly embraced retirement, enjoying his harem of admiring groupies, and gave us so many priceless selfies!

He was a big gangly Maryland bred 4 year old OTTB that I sourced through Sharon White. All she said was, “You have to come sit on this one!” His honest and incredibly kind eye had me at hello. He had a laid back swagger of an old soul and the mental toughness to level me.

We shared experiences together that deeply shaped my training and riding. He was an aggressive bold jumper which taught me tact, feel, and timing at another level. I had never ridden such courage and fight to sight lines, flags, and get to the other side.

We campaigned together for about a decade, from BN to CCI4-S, he was a consummate gentleman. He won both his YEH 5 year old classes in Area 5, traveled all over the country to FEI events, lead ups, and AECs.

He was my first Advanced horse, and so special having developed him from the beginning. There was so much trust it was overwhelming. As a result, I learned the massive responsibility we riders play in our horse’s competitive careers to get it right. To ride better, to train better, they owe us nothing. We put our ambitions and dreams on them. Much credit goes to my long time coach and mentor Mary D’Arcy who held me accountable and was the North Star in the process. Thank God I had her in the journey.

Thank you Carol Lambert Green for your friendship and endless grooming responsibilities during our career. My son Josh grew up with him, and my husband John was always in my corner. He thanked Sisco endless times for bringing his wife home safe through the finish. We breathed “rare air” together as John would say. What an honor and privilege it has been. Thank you God for loving me through him. RIP my dear friend, gallop on and keep finding the flags.
